Every TMT bar has ribs — the raised pattern running along its length. Their job is to mechanically lock the bar into the surrounding concrete, so load transfers between steel and concrete without the bar simply slipping.
The angle of those ribs changes how effective that lock is. Too shallow, and the ribs offer less resistance to slippage under load. Dwaraka cuts 8–12mm bars at 65° and 16–32mm bars at 45°, angles set through in-house testing rather than copied from a generic mill design.
In practice, better bond strength means the concrete and steel act more like a single composite material — which is the entire point of reinforced concrete design.
